Guide on how to host your own Rsps

Lately there was some new RsPsRanks users joining the community(like usual) which had no idea on how to make a Rsps. Thinking they only had to download a source and run a client and it would be available to all players. No. I will show you a full tutorial on how to setup a rsps and running one(With Joining players). It is a easy tuturial to follow if you follow step by step.

Before you start the tuturial remember to download JDK


First Step is Optional, but recommended just in case you change your IP.
Go to No-ip.com and locate on the top right corner.

Create a account, and put valid information and Log in once you finish your registration.

Click on "Host/Redirects", we are going to Redirect a DNS to your ip.


Then Click "Add Host"

Now to create and name your DNS. Put your server name, and chose any free domain, but leave the rest alone!


Now it should look like this


Now download and install the Latest Version DUC by No-ip.org

Connect the DUC and tick the DNS(No-ip) you have made.

Step 2 is to Port Foward your firewall
This is [COLOR="red"]Mandatory[/COLOR] in order for players to join your server.

1.Click the Start button to open the start menu. On the start menu click the Control Panel button. Which should bring you to the control panel.
2.In the upper left hand corner of this screen click the Switch to Classic View link.
3.Double click the Windows Firewall icon to open the properties of your windows firewall.
4.If the firewall is on, you will see a green dot in the On radio button. Make sure the Don't allow exceptions box is unchecked. Then click the Exceptions tab at the top of your screen.

5.You will probably see some common programs in the Program and Services box. This does not mean that the ports these programs use have been opened for forwarding. At the bottom of the screen there is a Add Port button. Go ahead and click it now.
6.Now add to Name:"RSPS" and port number "43594" (Make sure you add both TCP and UDP)
7.Click "Change Scope" And make sure it accepts all incoming connections.
7.click the Ok button at the bottom of the screen. You should now be back at the exceptions window.
8.Make sure "RSPS" has a check mark in it's checkbox. Then click the Ok button at the bottom of the screen to finisthis configuration.

1.Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Windows Firewall.
2.Click Allow a program through Windows Firewall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.Click Add port.
4.In the Name box, type "RSPS" that will help you remember what the port is used for.
5.In the Port number box, type in "43594".
6.Add both TCP and UDP
7.To change scope for the port, click Change scope, and then click the option which allows all incoming connections. ("Scope" refers to the set of computers that can use this port opening.)

1.Click the start button

2.Search for "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security"
3.Click "Inbound rules"

3.Located on the Navigation bar "Action" then "New Rule"
4.Click "Port"
5.Then you should put this. Then click Next.

6. Allow all Connections. Next. Check all the boxes.
7. Type in name "RSPS" and Description your Server name.
8.Remember to add both Protocols TCP and UDP!

[COLOR="cyan"]*NOTE:If your firewall is managed by a anti-virus! Then do it throught your anti-virus, Which involves different steps.[/COLOR]

Third Step involves picking a source and client. Pick any from the RsPsRanks Downloads Page
I will be using Soulsplit source under the 474 revision.
1.Download source,client, and cache.
2.Go to your client. and right click "client.java" and edit with notepad.
3.We are going to change IP of the client to connect to! Press "Ctrl+f" and type in "server ="
4.Once you find it. Type in your no-ip with in the parenthesis

5. Save it and then close. and Run the "2. Compile.bat"
6.If you get the Message "The System cannot find the specified." Right click the compile.bat and edit and change "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin\javac.exe" to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin\javac.exe"
7.Compile your client again and it should work.
8.Run your source, then run your client and log in. Enjoy!

Forth step is to now to port forward(Step might be necessary if you use a wireless router)
1. Go to the start menu and type "cmd"
2. A command prompt should pop up like this

3.Now type "ipconfig" and enter
4.Your Windows IP configuration should be shown, now look at Default Gateway! Your going to type those numbers in on your browser.

5.Now you should get a prompt to enter your Credentials, Enter them most of the time the username and password is

If you don't know the user name or password, contact your parents or who ever is in managing your router!

6. Now you must add the Port rules like we have done in port fowarding the firewall in Step 2. I can't explain display pictures because everyone has different routers
7.Once your done, reboot your router!
8. Remember this is not to run a Server permanently this is to show you how to run and thats it , the Next step is to learn the basics of Java, and etc. Good luck in the RsPsRanks Community
